SCHOLAR. EDUCATOR. RESTORATIVE JUSTICE PRACTITIONER.

Troy D. Washington is an Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and a lecturer at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where he earned his Ph.D. in Urban education and received a minor in Nonprofit Leadership.  His scholarship explores the intersectionality of sustainable communities and urban education.

Dr. Washington’s research critically examines three areas of urban development: economic (community-based nonprofit leadership), intellectual (urban education) and moral (restorative justice) processes that engage minority groups and strengthen marginalized communities.  He explores the practices of community-based nonprofit organizational leaders and the organizational capacity of urban school leadership.  The intellectual malleability of minority students in urban schools and the moral fortitude of individuals that have learned the principles of restorative justice contribute mightily to the qualitative findings of his research.

His peer-reviewed book with Atlantic Publishing Group, “Beyond the Boardroom: Examining the Concepts of an Effective Leader in a Culturally Conscious, Community-based Nonprofit Organization”, examines the determination of an organizational leader that is committed to improving the conditions of an impoverished community.
